ABOUT US

sym. studio is a landscape architecture and urban design practice founded on five key principles -Innovation, Integrity, Accountability Excellence & Passion. We are passionate about our work and offer a contemporary voice for landscape architecture; a small, agile and fresh alternative to traditional companies.

We see each project as an opportunity to form partnerships, push the bounds of possibility, steer preconceived ideas and synthesise objectives to achieve impressive solutions. Every project is unique and our designs work to reveal the ‘essence of place’ something beautiful but perhaps previously unseen. Our in-house design team utilises the most relevant external experts to inform the process and facilitate a targeted response.

sym. studio works within the full range of scales from urban mixed use master plans to domestic garden spaces; public places of prospect to private spaces for refuge. We especially enjoy addressing the leftover spaces between buildings, applying the principles of landscape urbanism to build cities that prioritise open space and promote social interaction. We like to explore new ideas and processes, forge new relationships and ultimately create places of enduring quality, where a sense of stewardship and belonging permeates deep into the local community.

  • During the length of the project, sym.studio challenged and tested best practice to provide Council with strategies that would meet the current and future needs of the Community and support the sustainable management of public open spaces. The outcomes have proven both beneficial and innovative…sym.studio represented their Client both competently and skilfully…I would recommend sym.studio.

Fiona Morrison (formerly Open Space Planning Manager, City of Ryde)
  • The team at sym.studio were motivated to bring value to the process and ensure they did not blindly follow the traditional approach to structure and surrounds, testing the required functionality and the work/relaxation space of the operatives. The existing ideas….were re-evaluated and a value adding solution was produced for every component of the building and its surrounds.

Kevin Radford (formerly Project Manager for SMEC/Hyder joint venture)
  • Engaged originally to provide landscape architectural services, their talented design and graphics team quickly established the social context of the site and illustrated the positive impact to the community.

Tony Mattox (Project Manager - Palm Beach Corporation)
  • sym. studio fully appreciate the outdoor needs of the retirement living sector; adding value to the development process by efficiently delivering projects that are Œfit for purpose – inspiring gardens that consistently receiving accolades from our residents.

    Amanda Blake (Development Manager, Stockland)
  • As my preferred landscape consultant their specialist experience in design, approvals and built product, consistently exceeds my expectation.

Andrew Nichols (Senior Development Manager, UrbanGrowth NSW)
